Normal Thresholds
The height of our standard thresholds is 63mm. This does not represent a significant obstacle and is perfectly adequate for general traffic. It also ensures that no problems are experienced with water ingres or draughts.
Low Thresholds
Many of our customers choose a low threshold to integrate a room more fully with the garden, balcony or an adjacent space. Designed essentially for internal use, low thresholds can also work very well on external doors.
However, it should be noted that, despite all the latest weather proofing technology, we do not recommend a low threshold on some external installations. Persistent rain, flooding and strong winds may penetrate to some extent a low threshold no matter who manufactured the door. Internal flooring should be laid with this in mind, but bad weather will not cause damage to the door.
Disabled Access
Low thresholds are perfect for wheelchair and pushchair access, or for where young children are frequently running across the doorway.
