Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I am not happy with my door?

We have generous warranty periods on our products and provide prompt service to anyone encountering difficulties.

Who makes your doors?

We work with carefully selected bifold door manufacturers who all maintain our extremely high standards.

How do you ensure a perfect fit?

Should you wish us to fit your door, we will carry out a survey of the building*, taking careful measurements and making recommendations to ensure a fabulous end result.

We use Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine cutting where possible to custom build the doors for accuracy and to avoid any human error.

What makes your doors better than others?

We only sell what we know will work for our customers.  We choose the best quality materials - from the critical gearing mechanism to the hinges - and all our doors are hand finished by craftsmen to ensure attention to detail.

Can we have them fitted ourselves?

Bifold doors are highly technical and need to be correctly specified and accurately measured. We prefer to fit the doors ourselves to avoid issues, but if your fitter or builder is qualified to do so, we can sell on a supply only basis.  Incorrect installation can affect the warranty.

How long is the lead time?

Normal lead time can be from 10 days to 12 weeks.  depending on material type, special order items, finishes etc.  We do endeavour to fit in with your building project schedule.

Why do bifolds cost more than patio doors?

Bifold doors are far more complicated with sophisticated moving parts.  They require more design and engineering which has to be reflected in the price, but is also evident in the beauty of the end product.

What is the difference between aluminium and PVCu?

Aluminium is available in a range of colours and finishes which we do not offer in PVCu for quality reasons.  Both products are highly durable, although aluminium will outlast PVCu.

What is laminated timber?

Laminated timber is an engineered product constructed out of genuine timber.  Layer upon layer is fused together in order to eliminate capture of water or air within the timber.  It is, therefore, not susceptible to warping, shrinking or twisting and can be used freely on external doors.

Can I have a low threshold?

On an interior door, the low threshold causes no problems and is preferable to avoid tripping.  Although used widely on exterior doors, low thresholds exposed to the elements can result in water ingres or draughts.

Do you quote for and supply other products I may need for my project?

We sell windows and doors of excellent quality to any customer who is also purchasing a bifold from us.

What is a cill and do I need one?

The cill is the part of the door which projects from beneath the door to create a neat and tidy finish across the threshold, and is angled to channel rain water away from the door.
