Why Bifolding Doors
Attractive
Available in a range of materials, folding patio doors are slimmer and less conspicuous than traditional patio doors. In aluminium and PVCu, they require the minimum of maintenance to keep them looking good for years to come. Even in PVCu, they can be indistinguishable from traditional products without the need for maintenance every two or three years. However, in situations where timber is preferable, the factory applied paint offers a relatively long period before repainting is required.
More Practical
In contrast to patio doors, our bifold doors are built to stack neatly to one or both sides of an aperture when open. This allows people to move freely from inside to outside or from one room to another. And where sliding patio and french doors might be impractical in more confined areas, such as opening out onto a balcony or patio, bifolds tidy away neatly and do not interfere with access. The low threshold option can be configured to be ideal for wheelchair users and the disabled in need of wider access and a minimal step.
Our profiles give the maximum possible visibility to the outside when closed, yet are completely weatherproof, provide far higher security than sliding patio or traditional french doors and also offer excellent thermal efficiency.
Safer
The design of bifolding doors means that, when shut, there are vertical frames in evidence which limit the confusion caused by the wide expanse of glass in a sliding patio door. Patio doors can appear open when they are in fact shut and collision with the glass can cause face and head injuries. With small children, bifold doors present a safer option for this reason.
Modern
Our bifolding doors boast highly sophisticated folding and sliding technology to give many years of trouble free use. They can be designed to look as modern as they are to suit new builds of contemporary construction or to be aesthetically in keeping with properties of any period. They can be configured as french doors where this is practical, yet retain the flexibility to exploit all the advantages of an up to the minute design.
